…probably not how you think,
however.Have you noticed that sometimes we create things we don’t want, we create spills, messes and accidents in the physical realm. So we clean up, brush off and start again. We all want to do our level best but it doesn’t always work out that way.
It turns out that it is the same in our mind. Sometimes we create ideas we don’t want, that don’t serve us well. We can change gears, we don’t have to believe in any idea that we or someone else creates. How perfect is that?
When I was training to be a LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist) I learned that everyone was entitled to their feelings. I thought, that sounds good but I had no idea what it really meant and no one could gave me a satisfactory answer in Graduate School. Then when I learned about the 3 principles, from Syd Banks, it was explained to me.
What I realized is that we can’t help what we feel because it is simply the result of what we think. The great news is that we are capable of not taking it seriously and then it leaves us quickly.
Can you imagine being in a relationship with someone who gets that? It sure alleviates the automatic knee jerk reaction that leads to fighting. Anyone who really understands the 3 Principles will realize that feelings; yours or theirs come from the thought of the moment and every thought passes eventually. And if you’re human (you must be if you’re reading this) then you’ll have compassion for anyone having a bad time because you know what it is like – you’ve been there; it feels terrible and so you’ll have compassion even when you’re being blamed for something you didn’t do.
When you realize that your experience originated from the 3 Principles at work within yourself, you can utilize it to it’s best advantage by returning to the source before the experience played out; back to a quiet mind.
Trying to manipulate your environment or other people will never work out. That is like trying to change the direction of a tennis ball after it’s hit the racket or the course of a golf ball after the club has made contact – a waste of energy, it won’t get you anywhere. It’s like working against nature.
We’re talking about the quality of your life. That’s huge! Looking out at life from this perspective alters just about everything ~ for the good, I can assure you! My advice is to find out as much as you can about how the 3 Principles work for all humanity.
